6 Days Congo Gorilla Trekking Tour offers you a chance to trek the rare species of Mountain Gorillas at Virunga National Park located a few kilometers off the busy town of Goma. Detailed Itinerary of the 6 Days Congo Gorilla Trekking Tour

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali then transfer to Goma Town

You shall arrive at the Kigali International Airport where you meet our driver guide who takes you through a meet and greet session as well as briefing on the 6 Days Congo Gorilla Trekking Tour at Virunga National Park and Kahuzi Biega National Park.

After the precise briefing, you shall be transferred on a precise tour around Kigali as you visit the Genocide Memorials, National Museums, National Market, cultural sites. After the briefing, you shall proceed to check-in lodge/ hotel for relaxation, Dinner and Overnight. Hotel Chezlando.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking at Virunga National Park

After breakfast early in the morning, you shall transfer to traverse the Rwanda-Congo border to Goma Town. You shall take a period of 3 to 5 hours as you watch the green terrain vegetation, rolling hills, rural villages, bird species and after a while, you shall reach the busy Goma Town. 

Eastern Lowland Gorillas

After reaching Goma Town, you drive to Virunga National Park which is located a few kilometers away. Transfer to the Park headquarters for precise briefing on conduct around the Gorillas. You shall then be allocated into groups of 8 with lead rangers who transfer you into the green forest to trek the Gorillas in their natural forest habitat.

You shall enter the green forest and trek the Gorillas for a period of 3 to 5 hours crossing from one point to another in the green forest. You shall later meet the Gorillas and in a period of 1 hour, stay in their presence taking many photos to keep with you. Take many photos to keep with a camera that has no flash to keep with you. After trekking the Gorillas, you shall transfer to check-in lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Kibumba Tented Camp.

Day 3: Transfer to Kahuzi Biega National Park

Breakfast in the morning then transfer to the Kahuzi Biega National Park a journey that takes you a period of 3 to 6 hours watching the green forest vegetation terrain, bird species. You shall traverse Bukavu Town till you reach the park. After a while, you shall reach the Park and proceed to check-in lodge for relaxation, Dinner and Overnight. Coco Lodge.

Day 4: Eastern Lowland Gorilla Trek at Kahuzi-Biega National Park

Early morning breakfast then transfer to the Park headquarters for precise briefing on conduct around the Gorillas. You shall be welcomed by park ranger guides who allocate you into groups of 8 with lead rangers.

They will transfer you into the green forest where you traverse from one point to another in the green forest watching the green terrain vegetation, bird species and small wildlife animals.

You shall then meet the Gorillas and in an hour stay in their presence taking many photos with a camera that has no flash to keep. After trekking the Gorillas, you shall return back to your lodge for relaxation, Dinner and Overnight. Coco Lodge.

Day 5: Transfer to Kigali (City Tour in Kigali)

Breakfast in the morning then transfer to cross the border from the DR Congo to Rwanda. You shall enjoy views of the green terrain, bird species as well as lunch. You shall transfer for a period of 3 to 5 hours and later you shall reach Kigali City Rwanda’s Capital.

After a while, you shall reach and enjoy a City Tour around the City visiting the Genocide Memorials, National Museums where you learn about the tragic Genocide in which many Rwandans lost their dear lives. After the visit, you shall proceed to check-in lodge/ hotel for Dinner and Overnight. Hotel Chezlando.

Day 6: Departure at Kigali International Airport

Breakfast in the morning then transfer to the Kigali International Airport to board your flight back home.

Gorilla Trekking Rules and Guidelines

To protect endangered gorillas, visitors must follow rules and regulations

  • Maintain a minimum distance from gorillas
  • Do not trek if experiencing symptoms of illness
  • Follow ranger instructions at all times
  • Avoid sudden movements and loud noises
  • Flash photography is prohibited
  • Visitors are typically required to be at least 15 years old

Best Time to Visit for Gorilla Trekking

Gorilla trekking can be done anytime around the year. However, the dry seasons generally offer the most comfortable hiking conditions. The Best Time to trek the Gorillas is during the months of June to September and December to February. During these months, the trails are less muddy and visibility is better.
